Carl Lewis

Carl Lewis was born on 1st July in the year 1961. he is a well known field and track athlete of America, who won a number of Olympic medals. His full name is Frederick Carlton Lewis, often referred as Carl. All total, he holds the record of winning 10 medals in Olympics, out of which, 9 are gold. Carl Lewis also won 10 medals in World Championships, out of which 8 were gold.

He was born at Birmingham in Alabama and spend his growing years at Willingboro in New Jersey. He wasn't very promising at the beginning as his brothers and sisters showcased more talent in athletics but with constant encouragement from his parents, he went on achieving th set goals by him.
From the age of 13, he started competing in ling jumps and slowly he emerged as a very promising athlete. He was one of the top ranked long jumpers at junior levels in whole of New Jersey, which went on to becoming one of the top ranked long jumpers in whole world. He qualified to compete in the American team in the Olympics of !980. he successfully attained the 6th rank in long jump in 100 meters in world rank.

Carl Lewis started his career and wining from the year 1979 and continued to win till 1996. He achieved world ranking in the year 1979 and went on receiving till he retired in 1996, with the wining of that years Olympic title. He is currently into acting and stays in Los Angeles.

The athletic domain of Carl Lewis were long jumping and as sprinter. He topped the rankings of the world in 200 m, 100 m along with long jump events from the year 1981 to 1990, quite frequently a number of times. He was named the 'Athlete of the Year' in 1982 and continued to achieve this title in 1983 as well as in 1984 by Track and Field News. He set world record in 100 m and also in 4 x 100 m and 4 x 200 m relay races. In 10 years, Carl Lewis achieved victories consecutively for ling jump, which is regarded as the longest of undefeated streaks in athletics.

Carl Lewis has also received lots of lifetime achievement awards due to his talent and hard work. He was voted 'Sportsman of the Century' by International Olympic committee and was also given the name 'Olympian of the Century' by Sports Illustrated, a well known American magazine. He showed the way to other athletes to work for achieving highest titles in amateur levels to such professional titles.

His acting talents made him appear in some popular Hollywood movies ans he has been a successful cameo in those movies.
